Stillnaz Youth Family Update 9/27
Hey SNY Families,
I am grateful to each of you who have reached out with your encouraging words and blessings after the announcement of my resignation and plans to pursue God’s call to full-time prison chaplaincy. As we are in this season of transition, I have been working with Pastor Josh to prepare a robust plan for the season after my departure. We will be sure to communicate those details as soon as they are solidified. Please continue to pray for our Youth and Family Ministries, and that God would strengthen our leaders to continue carrying the task of discipling our young people in the upcoming interim season.
There are some new announcements of the things coming up though the end of the year. Our Y.E.S. Retreat signups are due by 10/7… don’t miss out on that 11th & 12th graders!
Grace and Peace,
-Pastor Chris
Upcoming Events
October 31: Fun 5th Tuesday- Costumes encouraged
It’s a 5th Tuesday this month and we are excited to celebrate the joy of the Lord through fellowship and games! It is a great connection night for students to invite friends from school, especially ones who may not be connected to another church! It’s halloween too, so we look forward to having a good time with church appropriate costumes. (Consider principles of modesty and being sure to avoid anything that is grotesque or that dishonors the Lord)
November 4: Fall Fest
This is a new event hosted at Natalie & Garrett Wagner’s house 3-8pm. There will be games, food and fun all afternoon. It’s a no-cost and fun event where the whole youth group is invited. Please bring your favorite fall dish, snack, or drink to share!
November 10-11: 30 Hour Famine
We are partnering with WorldVision to raise funds and awareness to combat global hunger and poverty. Students are encouraged to begin fasting at noon on Friday 11/10, arrive at our York City Campus (350 Chestnut st) by 7pm for a lock-in where we will worship and learn about WorldVision’s mission, then on Saturday we will participate in service projects around York county. We conclude the event with a feast at 6pm! You can register for the event and begin raising funds right away! Register HERE!
November 21: Ignite Family Night & Parent Cohort
It’s our quarterly family night. Elementary aged kiddos are encouraged to join the youth group for worship and games. Parents will stay to have a parent cohort with Pastor Josh and the interim youth personnel to discuss the status and direction of youth ministry and its leadership (spoiler alert— It’s still Jesus! :) )
Dec 1-2: Youth Equipped to Serve (Y.E.S.— 11th & 12th grades only)
This is our district’s biannual event that helps our juniors and senior understand how God is calling them to serve in the world. It is led by our very own Pastor Josh Kleinfeld and Caleb Lynch. We all have a calling to serve God, whether it’s as a teacher, pastor, doctor, nurse, construction worker, whatever! We want to partner with our students as they approach the end of their high school time to discern how God might be calling them vocationally. Our church is happy to support any of the students who register for the event! Signups are due 10/7. Register HERE.
December 19: Ignite Christmas Party
It’s a Christmas party! Wear your fun festive clothing (ugly sweaters and light-up things are highly encouraged), and come prepared for a $5 white elephant gift exchange!
